3 Ways to Improve Your Home’s Safety For Kids

By Dean Shaw · On March 16, 2020

If you have children or young children coming to visit, then chances are thinking about their safety is something you find yourself doing quite often. Ensuring your home is as safe as possible will give you extra peace of mind so that they can explore the home and have fun without extra risk to their health or safety. Here are 3 easy ways you can improve the safety of your home for your loved ones.

1. Installing Railings

If you have stairs or a terrace, then ensuring you have properly railing is going to be an important consideration. Small children can easily slip or fall. You might think of traditional railing as both ugly and likely to ruin any pretty views from your terrace, but if you’re able to install glass railings you’ll be able to maintain the view and ambiance without compromising on safety. www.glassrailings.ca can offer a variety of beautiful options that are both safe and will help maintain the style of your home.

2. Bolt Down Furniture

Furniture can pose a real health and safety risk to young children as they are often tempted to climb on it not realising that their weight can easily tip it right on top of them. It’s a good idea to buy kits to be able to bolt down your furniture in your home so you can be assured that this wont happen. Many pieces of furniture, such as new stoves, come with kits for bolting them down, but for others you can look in your local hardware stores or search on Amazon.com to find them.

3. Keep Toxic Stuff Up High
Children are curious by nature, which can be especially dangerous because simple household items such as cleaners and batteries can quickly become major hazards. I suggest putting anything you don’t want your kids to put in their mouths, up higher than your head! While you can buy child proof locks for cupboards, many kids quickly figure out how to open these and you simply don’t want to risk it with really toxic things.

If you’re worried about your safety outside your home, you might want to consider investing in some body armour, such as these: https://guardianoutfitters.ca/collections/body-armour particularly if your work is high risk.

If you want to ensure your house is safe from damage from your pets, you’re going to want to invest in some Healthy Chews so they’re chewing their treats and not your doors! Click here to learn where to buy them https://healthy-chews.com/where-to-buy/.
