With the new year around the corner, chances are you’re thinking of what resolutions you can take up. One of the best ones is to focus on becoming more healthy, because if you’re healthier it will impact all areas of your life in a positive way. With health, it’s one of those areas in life where a few small changes can really add up. So smart small and build up the change as you see yourself enjoy improved concentration, more energy and a whole heap of other bonuses. Here are 4 easy ways to be healthier in the new year:
1. Consider Cycling
Cycling is both a great hobby and an amazing form of exercise. You can choose to incorporate cycling into your commute, or get an exercise bike to enjoy at home. Personally I prefer to be outside when I’m cycling as the fresh air is so good for me and I love gliding past traffic while people sit in their cars. There’s a bunch of different types of bikes you can get, mountain bikes, road bikes, e-bikes, cruiser bikes – whatever style will suit your needs and style best. If you’re looking for a styley bike, check out the beach cruisers for sale in order to score a good bargain. There are also plenty of mens bikes available on sale which can be a great Christmas gift for yourself or a loved one. I personally think that cycling on the weekends is a wonderful way to get in some cardio, fresh air and even some moving meditation. There’s something so relaxing about cycling around a beautiful part of your city!
2. Get into Smoothies
If you’re like me, then chances are you probably don’t eat enough fruit and vegetables, at least not as much as you should. Smoothies are an excellent way to pack in a lot of nutrients without feeling weighed down or too sick. Be sure to add in some leafy green vegetables, such as kale or spinach, to make your smoothies more nutritious. I love throwing unpealed bananas wrapped in plastic wrap in the freezer to change up the texture of my smoothies – give it a go.
3. Try Meditation
There’s plenty of benefits to meditation, from better sleep, being more relaxed, and handling stress better. It can also help boost your creativity which is something many of us struggle with in this modern world. Adding in a small amount of meditation each day can have a huge influence on your mood and energy. There are many apps you can try to make it easier to get the hang of it.
4. Get a Fitness Buddy
The best way to stick to a healthy lifestyle is to have a friend who’s also interested in their health and fitness. It makes going to the gym, yoga, or any other fitness activity so much easier. Want to get into running? Find a friend who’s also interested and have weekly runs together. Making a schedule with your exercise buddy and sticking to it is probably one of the biggest hacks for getting more fit!
Whatever you choose, making small changes to your health is an excellent decision. Afterall, we only get one body! What new years resolutions do you have? Let me know in the comments below:
