Can you guys believe it’s only 13 days until the end of the year? Where has the year gone? I don’t know about you, but I’m ready to say ‘Bye Felicia’ to 2018 and excited to see what 2019 will bring. One of my goals for 2019 is to try some new hobbies. When we’re kids, we’re constantly trying new things, but as we grow up it’s easy to get out of the habit of being adventurous.
Here are some fun hobbies to try in the New Year:
Trying a new sport
I was always terrible at ball sports growing up, which is why I did martial arts. But since I’ve been traveling and living overseas for so long, I haven’t found a new club, which is a real shame. In 2019, I’d like to look into a new type of martial art I haven’t yet tried. For you, you may want to join a work basketball team, take up running, or even try swimming if you’re looking for something easy on the joints.
Learning a language
Did you know that learning a language is actually super beneficial for your brain? It helps you stave off dementia, and can even make you smarter. If you’re like most people, you’ve probably been wanting to learn a new language for some time, however it can be easy to put this aside when you’re busy throughout the year. If you’re ready to learn French, Spanish, Mandarin, or another language, make a conscious effort to look for lessons this year. You can also download fun apps like Duolingo to help you learn.
Riding a motorcycle
How often have you watched someone beat the traffic on a motorcycle and thought “I’d love one of them?” If this is something you’ve wanted to do for a few years, there’s no better time than 2019. You can easily find accessories like motorcycle helmets on sale, even if you’re looking for extra large motorcycle helmets.
One of the great things about owning a bike is that you’ll also be introduced to a community of other people who love the open road. This is great if another one of your goals is to socialize more this year.
Not to mention, this is a cheaper hobby than you might think, with many accessories available online- including cheap alpinestars jackets.
Getting creative
When was the last time you picked up a pencil or a paintbrush simply because you felt like it? Maybe in college, you loved writing poetry, but you haven’t done that for years. Hobbies like art, writing, and even jewelry making are a great option if you don’t have much time but you’re hoping to stretch your creativity.
