They say that good things come to those who wait, and when it comes to British summertime, we’ve been waiting long enough! Having endured ridiculously miserable weather during spring, we are now being treated to some glorious sunshine, which I am sure, like me, you want to take advantage of. It’s time to get your home and garden prepared for some serious celebrating in the sun and if you aren’t sure where to start, I am here to help.
Garden Party
When it comes to summer, who needs a reason to party? The garden is the perfect place to host a summer party and by making the appropriate preparations, it could be one of those parties your friends talk about for years to come. First, you will want to get the right barbecue for the amount of people you intend to invite. There are plenty of affordable options in supermarkets, ranging from £15 bargains, to ones bearing a more hefty price tag. Considering the British weather it my not be advisable to get an expensive barbecue if its only going to make an appearance for a few weeks of the year. However, do get a sizeable one to accommodate all your guests so you can cook large quantities at once and you aren’t constantly standing at the barbecue cooking when you should be mingling. If possible, invest in a gazebo so that you won’t have to keep dashing indoors if there are spells of rain. Chairs and tables are a must so ensure you have enough to go around – plastic ones will suffice and these extremely affordable options are also easy to stack and store.
Being The Perfect Host of Any Party
One thing that many hosts forget is that some of their guests may have driven quite a distance, and will perhaps want a few drinks at your party. This means they can’t drive home if they have driven to your home, or they won’t want to travel back home on public transport at a late hour. Your guests will love you if you are prepared to put them up for the night, so consider getting a bed or two for your spare room. Choose a reputable company such as Bedstar when selecting bed frames and mattresses as you will want your guests to have an uninterrupted night’s sleep in a comfortable bed after all that partying. You could get a double bed or even two single beds, but if you want to be the ultimate host, think about getting a bed with an accompanying guest bed which can be tucked away underneath the main bed when not in use.
It’s The Little Things
Accessories can go a long way to making your home a stunning party venue and items such as outdoor fairy lights, bunting and lanterns can make it easy to extend your garden party past daylight hours. If you are feeling creative, you can make your own bunting with a mish-mash of fabrics, or you can even purchase cheap paper bunting from high-street discount stores and supermarkets. If you have a little cash to spare, you may want to invest in outdoor heaters which will certainly help keep guests happy and warm when the sun goes down.
