UK Business Deliveries: What do Customers Expect?

By Dean Shaw · On October 18, 2016

Today a business has the luxury of being able to send parcels all over the world and subsequently access to bigger and better markets. While this is naturally good news for any up and coming UK businesses that send items to customers, that’s not to say it’s simply a matter of being able to post items wherever they want.

The fact is that the modern consumer wants a variety of delivery options and if you don’t provide these you could risk losing business as your clients look for better services. So in order to help you ensure your business is up to speed with modern expectations, what follows is a breakdown of the different delivery options you might want to consider providing.

home-delivery

National

To start with the obvious, you should at least have delivery services that those in the UK can make the most of wherever they might be. If you exclude even a couple of the more remote areas in the home nations it can reflect badly on your business.

International

The step up from this is to have international deliveries and these are an absolute must if you want to expand successfully overseas. Again, you should look to extend your reach as far as you can and offer competitive rates for even the furthest of locations.

Time-Sensitive

An increasingly popular option is to have faster time-sensitive deliveries like next day – or even in some cases same day – services. These speedy options are a reflection of today’s consumers in that they are used to receiving information quickly via their smartphones and tablets. The bottom line for your business is if you can provide such deliveries then you could lure in these demographics.

In Person

Lastly, a door to door and signed-for courier service is that little bit of extra service that customers would appreciate. This secure method of making sure goods arrive is also useful for your business as it is a solid confirmation that you have delivered the items securely.

Alternative Solutions

Some of these are only applicable for certain businesses, but to return to a key point, today’s consumers expect to have some variety. If you feel you wouldn’t be able to manage this though then you should use the services of a delivery company like InXpress who can offer your clients these options.

Treat this as an investment in the future of your company as the better the service you provide, the better the situation for your business.
