How Robots Can Add Hours to Your Weekends

By Dean Shaw · On May 30, 2017

What if you could say goodbye to your housekeeper, landscaper, and pool boy? Or, if you fill all of these roles yourself, wouldn’t it be nice to free up your weekends to engage in activities you actually enjoy? Well, move over! Robots are quickly picking up the bulk of your domestic duties. Below, we will explore just some of the way that your elbow grease is becoming obsolete.

Clean Those Floors

When most of us hear about robots taking over our homes, we likely envision robot vacuum cleaners, which have been on the market for more than a decade now. Vacuums continue to be the most competitive and biggest consumer robotics category in the industry, which means they are only getting better. Today’s best robotic vacuums for the household require less cleaning, fit under couches, have stronger pickup power, and they return to their charging station when their batteries are low.

If vacuuming isn’t enough, you can get out those tough stains using a robotic floor scrubber. For instance, the iRobot Scooba 450 soaks your floor, spreads the cleaner, and then scrubs and vacuums before squeegeeing the area. It removes 99.3% of bacteria.

Stop Working in the Summer Heat

As the mercury rises, it gets harder and harder to keep your lawn green and mowed. Fortunately, the home robotics makers have heard homeowners’ cries for help and have created a number of useful tools. Your lawn or garden needs precise and regular watering. This can be achieved with smart sprinklers that check the weather data and deliver water where it is needed most.

When your grass gets unwieldy, have your Robomow cut it back down to size. For about the price of a riding lawnmower, robotic mowers take care of your lawn as often as you want. They run on electricity, so they are quieter and better for the environment than gas mowers.

Take Care of Your Little Ones

Do you have to rock your infant for hours on end to get them to sleep? Nowadays, you can leave that task to robots. Devices these days precisely replicate your rocking motion based on your baby’s position. These nanny robots will even play the music of your choice over their internal speakers.

If you are one of those people who simply cannot change the kitty litter without gagging, we have hope for you. The Litter-Robot can sense when your cat does his business. It will then sift and deposit the clumps into a waste tray.
