The top driving apps you should know about

By Dean Shaw · On August 9, 2017

Apps make life easier for all of us. But if you’re a driver, there are a few apps you may not have heard of. These are the top driving apps you should know about:

DriveGain

This app helps you save money by saving fuel. You’ll get visual and audio feedback based on the changes you’re making to your driving style so you can improve efficiency. Simply driving at 60mph instead of 70mph can improve your fuel consumption by up to 10%, while only adding two minutes to each journey time.

YourParkingSpace

YourParkingSpace is a great little app and a top choice for anyone who struggles to find a park. People can rent out their empty garages, driveways, or parking spaces, so drivers can easily find and book parking. This takes the stress out of your daily commute. You can use the app to find the perfect space, book it, and then head straight to that parking space- meaning no more driving around in circles.

RAC Traffic

This app provides you with comprehensive traffic information. Drivers can use an interactive map to see traffic and incident information, real-time road works, and more. The paid version of this app also adds a step-by-step itinerary, route optimisation, and route planner to make it easier to get to where you need to go- whatever the situation on the road.

Petrol Prices Pro

This app takes your location and allows you to make the best decisions when you need top up up your tank. You’ll get the location and details of the nearest stations, along with their fuel prices. Since costs can vary by 10p per litre, you can end up saving a lot of money by simply choosing the best station.

iCarPark

Not sure where you parked your car? This app can log your location with the simple press of a button, so you can easily navigate back to that space later on in the day or night. The best part? You no longer need to remember your space or floor number, since the app can do this for you as well.

TomTom

TomTom is one of the most famous route guidance tools around. The smartphone app replicates the exact route guidance you would get from one of the TomTom devices, with easy-to-follow directions and an intuitive interface. You can also easily download the European and Ireland versions for when you’re taking holidays abroad.

Taxi Taxi

Did you end up drinking a little more than you intended to? Taxi Taxi makes it easier to leave your car where you are and grab a cab. The app uses the GPS system in your smartphone, making it easy for you to find the nearest taxi firm. This ensures you can get home safely every time.
