Not Sure Where to Go? Consider Cornwall For Your Next Holiday

By Dean Shaw · On August 9, 2017

It can be tricky finding a holiday destination that pleases all family members, after all it’s likely your children have wildly different expectations for a summer holiday than you do. Cornwall is the perfect family destination because it offers a few different activities that are sure to delight all family members, no matter their ages. Here are some reasons why you should spend your holidays in Cornwall:

1. Perfect Location for Animal Lovers
Cornwall is home to many great animal related attractions. Have you ever been to an owl sanctuary? This will be an enchanting place to visit for any young Harry Potter fan or anyone who simply loves these wise and majestic creatures. Perhaps you’re more of a fan of cheeky little monkeys? Pay a visit to the Monkey Sanctuary that is home to numerous different species of monkeys. What something a little different? Cornwall is also home to Tamar Otter and Wildlife Centre. Otters are such cute little creatures and definitely worth paying a visit too. No Matter your favourite animal, you’ll be spoiled for choice with Cornwall’s special animal sanctuaries.

2. Great Museums
Interested in history or perhaps just old planes and war technology? Head to Davidstow Airfield and Cornwall At War Museum where you’ll be able to dive back in history and learn about arm, navy and airforce memorabilia. It’s a great place to visit on a windy or cooler day, and will be a fascinating place to take even young children. Barbara Hepworth Museum and Sculpture Garden is a wonderful place to visit especially for the art lovers in the family. You’ll see giant sculptures scattered across the impeccable grounds. Kids are free, so it’s a great low-cost activity for the whole family. Try to avoid this on a rainy day as most of the collection is housed outside. Want to see more traditional art? Well you can head to the Penlee House Gallery and Museum to see this beautiful collection. Currently they’re hosting a Stanhope Forbes Exhibition which showcases his work during the period from 1880 onwards.

3.Castles: Who doesn’t love a visit to a castle? You can imagine the long and exciting history that took place. Who lived here before, what their lives were like and even what the fighting was like. You’re spoiled for choice in Cornwall, but two of the most notable castles are Tintagel Castle and St Mawes Castle. While Tintagel Castle is the more famous one, St Mawes Castle seems to be much better preserved. No matter which one you choose I’m sure all members of the family will be delighted to visit a real-life castle.

Cornwall is a wonderful family holiday destination, so start planning your next trip there!
