While many American cities have adopted the tradition of dropping a ball to mark the beginning of the New Year, New York did it first and can always have that claim. Between 42nd and 45th street gets insanely busy on New Years, meaning if you want to secure a decent spot you’ll have to arrive around 2pm. Bring snacks as food in the area is limited and hunting out food will cause you to lose your spot.
