Choosing the Best Hair Transplant Procedure

By Dean Shaw · On February 4, 2020

Hair plays a vital role in our body. For instance, it serves as a shield from the ultraviolet rays of the sun. On the other hand, it also helps us in regulating our body temperature during the cold season by conserving our body heat. Having hair will provide you even a youthful look and can attract more towards your opposite sex. However, as we grow older, each one of us will encounter hair loss, and it is naturally part of human life that we must accept, whether you like it or not.

Thankfully, because of the continuous development of technology nowadays, we already formulate the solution to hair loss. It is called a hair transplant.

Hair Transplant

A hair transplant is a surgical procedure that pulls out the hair follicles from one part of the body, called the “donor site.” After this, it will  deposit to the balding part, also known as the “beneficiary site.” It merely restores your hair and provides a natural-looking hairline that compromises your unique facial structure. However, various hair transplant methods are now available in the market. It can be not very easy to choose which procedure is best for you.

Here, we will discuss the two main types of hair transplant procedures and explain to you their differences — the FUT and FUE hair transplant method.

FUT Method

The Follicular Unit Transplantation or simply FUT is one of the significant hair transplantation methods practice in the market. It is a hair transplant procedure that removes a strip of hair from the donor site, usually at the back of the head, and then implanted to the bald recipient areas of your hair. It serves as the gold standard in hair transplantation. It is because it yields up to 90% and only 5% low graft rejection. The FUT is typically less expensive compared to FUE and was the first hair transplant method to become a widespread practice in the field of hair surgery.

However, FUT also has a negative side. It is because, after the hair surgery, a patient will surely get a scar from the cut. Also, there is a higher risk of infections compared to FUE. Today, the FUT method is somewhat considered outdated due to the vast technology that has been developed in the market. Regardless of its negative side, the final results of FUT are still undeniably impressive.

FUE Method

The Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) evolved from the FUT method. In this procedure, hair follicles are also extracted and then individually implanted the hair to the recipient site. Unlike the FUT method, FUE doesn’t need incision or surgical cut that includes the skin or flesh. It is why FUE is also known as the No Linear Scar Technique. Today, this hair transplantation method is commonly used compared to the FUT method.

On the contrary, since it is an advanced hair transplantation method. It is more expensive compared to FUT because it provides around 5000 grafts in a single session.

Other types of FUE method includes:

·       Sapphire FUE

·       ICE Grafts

·       Mega FUE

Final Thoughts

The best hair transplant method will depend on the current hair condition of the client. Even though FUT and FUE have different hair transplant method, they share a common goal, and that is to bring back your youthful hair as well as your confidence again.
