Home renovations are a great way to make your home feel more modern, more comfortable and to suit your current style. Whenever we think of home renovations, chances are you think of expensive changes that are way out of the budget. There are many things you can do to your home to create a big change, without a big cost. If you’re craving a home renovation, but don’t want to throw tons of money into it, check out these 3 helpful tips for renovating your home on a budget.
1) Consider the Paint
Maybe your home has some outdated wallpaper that you’d like to get rid of, or maybe the external paint is faded and looks sad. Paint is one of the fastest and cheapest ways to update your home. You don’t have to paint the entire house in order to get a dramatic change, you can consider adding in feature walls in certain rooms. When changing the paint colour of your home, whether inside or out, spend a little doing testers to make sure you’re happy with the paint in the actual light in your home. Shades of paint can vary dramatically depending on where they are placed. If you’re not an experienced painter, you may want to use a local handyman service in order to get a result you’re happy with.
2) Add in Some Cushions
While artwork can be quite pricey, especially if you want to frame the pieces, cushions can be a fun and cheap alternative. Buying cushions in bright colours or with fun prints can easily add personality while making your home feel more cozy. Lately it’s become a trend to also have giant floor pillows, whether inside or outside, in order to create another social area without breaking the bank. This is one of my favourite ways to change a space, such as a bedroom or living room, as it’s so expensive but can make a world of difference!
3) Update Your Living Suite
Chances are your living room is where you spend the majority of your time with your loved ones, so having a comfortable couch that is inviting is really important. While investing in a new lounge suite can be expensive, there are options if you don’t want to spend too much. You can consider buying a lounge suite that isn’t 100% perfect – I recently bought a gorgeous lounge suite at a greatly discounted price because one part of the fabric had a tiny, unnoticeable line on it. Otherwise you can search around online to find secondhand couches in great condition. Often people buy couches and they replace them frequently as their styles have changed, meaning you can pick up hardly used living room suite at a considerable discount.
Freshening up your home is something that shouldn’t empty your bank account and with these tips, you can make some changes that will improve your home while on a budget!
