I don’t know about you, but I love settling in for a weekend of watching movies. But have you ever thought about what you would do if you could spend a day in the life of your favourite character? I have.
Personally, I’m a Gatsby fan. While I loved the book, the movie was even better- something that rarely happens in my opinion. While I would love to spend a day in the life of Gatsby, I would definitely need to win the lottery. Did you know that a mansion like his in Long Island, with a private beach, swimming pool, and 40 acres of land recently went on sale for £77,298,271? That’s nuts.
One of the things I loved about the movie was Gatsby’s gorgeous yellow Rolls-Royce. But it’s not cheap to look that cool, and I’d be coughing up £144,000 for a 1922 Rolls-Royce Silver Ghost.
I’d be lying if I said I didn’t love the idea of always hosting lavish parties. Gatsby’s included a dance floor, lights, party tents, a band, and plenty of food and booze. It turns out that to keep up that lifestyle, I’d be looking at £225,000 annually. Wow.
Chill Money recently did a survey, and respondents what they would do if they were planning to throw an incredible party. 23% said they would have it in a mansion, 20% said they would be taking their festivities to the beach, while 18% loved the idea of partying on a yacht. I’ll take all three please!
Of course, if my life was really a movie, it would probably get old fast. I would personally get sick and tired of always partying and buying things, and would definitely want to donate a lot of time and money to charity.
Many people dream of living like James Bond, in fact, I’m sure this would be the best choice for my brother. One of the reasons why he’s so popular is due to his amazing cars and the tech he uses. Did you know that the Aston Martin DB10 he drives can’t even be bought by the public? However, you can get the DB9 GT Bond edition, which will set you back £196,000.
His gadgets are pretty high end, and you can expect to pay a cool £4,600 for his OMEGA Seamaster 300 watch. His phone is surprisingly affordable though (if you save up), and you can get your hands on it for £650. Many people love his apartment, but you’d be paying around £700,000 for a one bedroom flat in Chelsea.
While it’s nice to dream about living in a movie, the reality is that very few of us would be able to afford to live this way. I guess that’s what makes watching these movies so fun!
