Planning to start a blog? Here are the SEO tactics I use

By Dean Shaw · On April 11, 2019

Blogging is a great way to increase your social circle, connect with people from around the world, and grow your business. If you’re thinking about starting a blog, one of the most important things to remember is that SEO is a must.

Here are some of the top ways you can #SEOYourBlog:

Use WordPress

There are many different platforms available for blogging, but I personally find WordPress to be the best. That’s because it makes it easy for me to use the best SEO tactics. There are thousands of free plugins, and many of them are developed specifically for SEO- such as Yoast SEO.

Make your website fast

Google now pings slow websites, and no one wants to wait for your website to load- they’ll simply click back to the search results. There are a number of great plugins that can help with this, but one of the best ways is to make sure your website is being cached. Cached websites are like ‘memories’ so your website doesn’t need to load from scratch each time it’s visited.

Images can also often slow down a website. Make sure you make your images as small as you can while still being good quality.

Use keywords

Keywords are like little arrows that point at your website. If you want your blog posts to be found, keywords are super important.

That means doing keyword research so you can know exactly what your target audience is searching online. That way, you can naturally include these keywords within your blog posts.

If you’re serious about getting eyes on your blog (particularly if you’ll be selling a product), you may also want to consider PPC. This stands for Pay-Per-Click, and you’ll use ads to get people to click on your website. This can be a big learning curve, so consider talking to a team of experts at Click Consult.

Link internally

While linking to external websites is a good idea, you should also make sure you’re linking internally. Not only does this encourage people to spend more time on your website, but it makes it easier for search engines like Google to ‘crawl’ your website- so all of your pages will show up in the search results.

What do you think of these SEO tactics? If you’ve already started your blog, have you used any of these tactics before? Leave a comment below and let me know.
