The Future of Technology in Cars

By Dean Shaw · On June 18, 2018

If anyone should want to see a roadmap of how far technology has come through the years, one good place to start would be in the automobile industry. From their inception in in 1885/1886 all the way to the present day, automobiles have taken different shapes and utilised different systems through the years. Each car, in one way or another, has functioned differently to the next.

Needless to say, the future of cars is constantly evolving. Therefore, it’s worth asking what they might look like and be capable of later down the line. Here’s what people can look forward to.

Electric Cars

A common drawback of the common car is its impact on the environment. Petrol and diesel clog up the cityscapes with what seems like endless pollution, and as more and more people take to the roads, the worse the environment suffers. Others have turned to bikes and walking to stamp out the emissions. However, now there is a solution that benefits drivers and environmentalists alike.

Electric cars are this common ground, fitted with an engine that doesn’t require diesel or petrol to power. They drive smoothly, typically do less mileage and require more frequent recharges than a refuel, but still, there’s no question that such a vehicle is innovative for helping the environment. They’re widely heralded as the future of the auto industry, and they’ve earned their as the future of cars for this reason.

Self-Driving

It’s an indisputable fact that cars are dangerous, as are there drivers. The statistics can be staggering, as tired, distracted and careless drivers can cause anything from scrapes, life changing injuries to deaths. In any case, it’s unacceptable, and technology is finally making moves to stamp out these reckless behaviours. This is achieved through the self-driving car.

A self-driving utilises pre-arranged route mapping, ‘platooning’ and sensory tech. It doesn’t replace the driver entirely, who is still expected to be alert, but it does decrease the likelihood of accidents on the road by the cars being aware of each other in their internal systems. While they haven’t yet entered mass production, they do have the potential to provide a safer means of transport for any user.

Tracking the Vehicle

Cars are unpredictable, especially when they pass a certain threshold in their years. They can breakdown on a whim, causing embarrassing stalls at the traffic lights or causing you to not move off the driveway at all. Moreover, they can be stolen, hidden away and used for immoral means. In the end, their needs to be a way to keep track of them for any reason.

For faulty cars, a warranty is a hugely beneficial thing, as such things can cover the cost of mechanical faults. This can then keep tabs on the functionality of the car, ensuring that its running in tip-top shape! You can get all kinds of warranties, including ones specific to your car, such as a Kia warranty for Kia cars and so on. Additionally, cars can also be tracked depending on their location, allowing them to be pinpointed on any map or traced back to any sketchy points in their history. This can obviously help law enforcement, and ensure potential owners buy.
