Top 4 Technology Trends for 2014

By Dean Shaw · On January 21, 2014

Each year technology improves at a considerable rate and this year is looking to be no less than remarkable in terms of technological developments. We interact with our technology is such a different way to before; it is a part of our every day life, from what we consume to how we interact with other people. We’ve taken some time to look at what the biggest trends of this year are set to be and they’ll include the following:

1) An Increase in E-cigs:

If you’re not aware already, e-cigs are pretty cutting edge. You can enjoy all the benefits of smoking without many of the known health consequences that come with traditional smoking. Instead of inhaling the smoke from burning cigarettes, you’re inhaling the vapour from nicotine-infused water. They’re available in a wide variety of flavours and you can get rechargeable or disposable e-cigs, depending on your needs. If you’re interested in learning more about e-cigs, check out 10 Motives as they have an extensive range of products available.

2) The Personal Era of Cloud

This new era is set to change the way we think of our devices. Rather than having one central device and then other devices we use sporadically, this year sees a shift towards the more even use of a variety of devices including smartphones and tablets. The cloud will instead become our central device, linking all of the other devices together, allowing us to be more mobile than ever and more easily able to work on the go.

3) Smart Technology

In a few states across America, computer-driven vehicles have been given the go-ahead to legally drive on the road. Technology is being created to not only make our lives easier but to be aware of its surrounding environment and to know how to deal with changes in the environment. In the next few years, we’ll see computer-driven cars on the market for purchase, as well as a host of other technology advancements that will better improve our lives.

4) 3-d Printing

Although 3-d printing has been around for a few years, it’s only really injected itself into the household market recently. There are numerous household applications for 3-d printers, from simple household items right through to the father who created a prosthetic hand for his disabled son. The price of 3-d printers as well as the materials needed to run them is dropping, allowing for home 3-d printers to be a realistic item.
It will be, no doubt, a very exciting year in terms of technology. As technology improves, our relationship with technology becomes even more intertwined.
