As we grow older and your bodies begin to wear down, our hearing is often the first thing to go. The worst thing about this is that you may not realise you have a problem and it could be negatively effecting you in a number of ways. Choosing hearing aids is the last step, but it may not come to that.
Here are 4 Reasons you should get your hearing tested today:
1. It’s often undiagnosed:
Loss of hearing usually occurs over many years and is incredibly hard to detect. You may not even realise you have a problem as Doctors often do not test for hearing impairments unless you specifically request a test.
2. It can impact your social life:
The ability to communicate effectively is crucial when it comes to being social. If you have a hearing problem it is highly likely you are not getting the most out of your social life. Diagnosis and treatment can enhance your life by allowing you to clearly hear and understand friend and colleagues
3. It can cause learning difficulties:
If you are studying or learning a new skill a hearing impairment can be hugely disruptive. If you are unable to understand tutors or lecturers you are probably missing out on a lot of useful information.
4. You might be missing the finer things in life:
The small things in life are often taken for granted, but can also be the most satisfying. Whether its listening to the sound of rain patter pattering on the roof, hearing the birds chirp in the morning or enjoying your grandchildren’s stories and laughter. The little things are what make life magic and you don’t want to miss out on them
The bottom line is that your hearing is a vital cog in the machine that is your body. Without it you are living with a disability and are most certainly not getting the most out of life. If you have any concerns simply talk to your GP and request a test. It is not a priority for most Doctors, so make it one.
